you can come to Dubrovnik from Central and West Europe in several ways

1. Via Rijeka - motorway and continental highway: Rijeka - Senj - Žuta Lokva - Gospić - Dugopolje (motorway) - Vrgorac - Ploče - Dubrovnik.

2. Combining the Adriatic Highway (along the coast) and the highway: Rijeka - Senj - Karlobag - Maslenica - Split (motorway) - Makarska - Ploče - Dubrovnik.

There are different possibilities of combining the coastal highway and motorway. The Adriatic Highway will enable you to enjoy seaside scenery, while the motorway through the continental part of the country offers a different but equally attractive landscape.

From Central Europe:

1. Via Zagreb

Zagreb - Karlovac - Žuta Lokva - Gospić - Dugopolje (motorway) - Vrgorac - Ploče - Dubrovnik. This route can also be combined with the Adriatic Highway.

2. Via Osijek (through Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Osijek - Slavonski Brod (or Brčko) - Sarajevo - Mostar -Metković - Dubrovnik /

Sarajevo - Foča - Trebinje - Dubrovnik

Several petrol stations are situated by the access road to- and in Dubrovnik, some of which work 24 hours.


Dubrovnik has excellent boat connections to other Croatian harbours and to Bari Harbour in Italy.

Dubrovnik also has daily boat lines to the nearby islands (Koločep, Lopud, Šipan and Mljet, and seasonal lines to Korčula and Lastovo).

Gruž Harbour is 2 kilometres from the Old City. Jadrolinija Agency, banks, ATM, exchange offices, parking lot, Konzum Supermarket, Srđ Department Store, open-air green market, Petka Hotel, several agencies, Rent-a car and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board Information Office are located in close proximity to the harbour.

The Old City is about 20 minutes walk from the harbour.

Buses no. 1a, 1b,1c, 3 and 8 will take you there in about ten minutes. The bus ticket, which you purchase on the bus is 12 kunas, but you can buy it at the news-stand at the price of 10 kunas. The taxi stand is in close vicinity to the harbour, and the fare to the Old City costs about 70 kunas. The price for luggage is 2 kunas per piece.


Dubrovnik Airport lies about 20 kilometres from Dubrovnik.

Upon arrival, bus transport to Dubrovnik is organised for each regular flight. Departures include bus transport from the bus terminal one and a half hours before the flights of Croatia Airlines and Austrian Airlines. For all other regular flights the bus from the bus terminal leaves 2 hours before the flight.

A taxi service is available all day. The price of the drive from the Dubrovnik Airport to Dubrovnik is between 200 and 235 kunas, depending on the part of the city where the hotel is located.
